Farmhouse Bar Chairs

This set of counter height bar chairs completes the farmhouse dining set. The design of this chair complements the XX back dining chairs. The chair is virtually identical except the XX’s on the back have been removed since there isn’t as much height on the back, and the seat is 7″ taller. I added a foot support and additional rails on the lower part of the chair for function and strength. Same as the other chairs, these were joined with loose mortise and tenons cut with the domino joiner. The seat frame is reinforced with corner blocks that are screwed in place and the seat is secured with pocket holes. I elongated the pocket holes on the front rail to allow for seasonal wood movement.

The build for these went a lot faster than the first four since I already had the jigs made for shaping the legs and I kept detailed build notes from the first set on where to place the mortises and all of the settings on the domino joiner.

I’m grateful to have earned this commission and happy to have this one complete. It was a lot of woodworking, and parts of it were challenging, but wow was it worth it. What a beautiful dining set! I hope my client enjoys this set for generations to come.
