Modern Farmhouse Pet Credenza

This modern farmhouse pet credenza was built for a client with two dogs. They wanted a secure place for their pets that felt more like furniture than a dog crate and I think this piece fit the bill. The credenza features black powder coated steel hardware including the balusters, mini sliding barn door hardware and the door pulls. The carcass is constructed of hardwood veneer plywood with an MDO (medium density overlay) plywood on the bottom. The MDO is water proof and is commonly used for sign making. It has a dense, waterproof coating which works great in this application to allow the piece to be cleaned easily. The face frame and top are made of Red Grandis, a species in the Mahogany family, which has a reddish, brown color. The interior of the cabinet is finished with oil based polyurethane for ease of cleaning and the hardwood is finished with Osmo hard wax oil.

I’m excited with how this piece turned out. The perpetual theme in this craft is balancing form and function, and I feel like I achieved both with this piece.
