Highlights
This table is a classic pedestal, trestle design. The two legs feature a wide foot for stability and a ton of character. Large flowing curves meet small facets to create an elegant, timeless design. The pedestal legs are made from three components joined together with large mortise and tenons for incredible strength. The base is completed with three trestles that are mortised into the feet and arms of the pedestals. These joints are secured with knockdown hardware to allow the piece to breakdown for easy transport.
The top is a functional breadboard top. A board on each end of the top runs perpendicular to the field of the table to help keep the top flat over time. Five deep mortises accept the tenons formed on the end of the table. The center tenon is glued and a drawbored mortise and tenon hold the others tight to the field allowing the table to expand and contract with the seasons.
This piece is finished with Rubio Monocoat’s hard wax oil. This finish provides exceptional water resistance while keeping the look and feel of the wood natural. This is also a Zero VOC finish which makes it safer to work with and has less cure time before its safe to enter the home.
