Highlights
This bookshelf is is constructed with a hybrid construction approach; both traditional joinery and modern fasteners were used to make this an economical piece that was quick to make. Each shelf is made with frame and panel construction and secure to the shelf legs with mortise and tenons. For extra strength, screws were added to each shelf and hidden with wooden plugs. A large, deep drawer anchors the bottom of the piece and adds a ton of storage, great for a child’s play room. All of the edges on this piece are rounded over to create an inviting feel which works well for children’s furniture such as this.

This piece was built with a hybrid approach and utilizes secondary hardwoods and plywood to save cost as it was built to be painted. The same or similar piece may be made with premium hardwoods and finished naturally.
